17th to 20th - Kendal Mountain Film Festival
Kendal Mountain Festival is by far the largest and most varied event of its type in the world - it is also the main social event for outdoor enthusiasts in the UK. At the heart of Kendal’s programme is the mountain film competition, attracting film premières from around the world. Over 50 films are screened (from 200+ entries) with ten coveted prizes up for grabs. Together with the Art and Photography events, numerous competitions, specialist sports nights (Bike, Snowsports, Free-Flight and Endurance Sports) the Boardman Tasker literary award, KMF for Schools programme plus the Adventure Film Academy for aspiring filmmakers, make it the 'must do' mountain festival.
Saturday 19th - Ambleside Lantern Procession and Christmas Lights Switch on
Every year on the third Saturday in November, the people of Ambleside parade through the town at dusk, carrying hundreds of paper lanterns. Young and old turn out to witness this spectacular procession, as traffic is halted and Christmas street lights throughout the town centre are switched on as if by magic by Santa Claus. Then there are FIREWORKS . . .

Sunday 20th November - Kendal Christmas Lights Switch On
Christmas Lights switch-on at the Market Place at 4.45 pm. Father Christmas and his reindeer will start the parade from K Village at 3.30pm and arrive in the Market Place at approx. 4.45pm. Come and meet Santa and his reindeer and Special Guest - Steven Hall.
Saturday 26th - Windermere and Bowness Winter Lights and Santa Cruise
Join in the fun with the Seeking Santa Cruise from Bowness Pier and the Sixth Annual Winter Masked Parade through Windermere village and the Winter Lights Switch-on. All this excitement will be topped off at the Grand Firework Finale in Queens Park. Boarding 10am Sailing 10.30am prompt Returning 12 noon All children will receive a wrapped gift from Father Christmas. The ticket also includes entry to a half hour cartoon show at, and by courtesy of, the Royalty Cinema, Bowness. The Kookaburras Samba Band will drum in Windermere from 3.45pm up to the Railway Station where at 4.15pm Moky Fitness will join the festive fun at the Station and both will perform during the parade. At 4.30pm, Santa on his sleigh will lead the Winter ‘Sparkle’ Masked Parade through Windermere Switching-on the Winter Lights along the way to Queens Park for the Grand Firework Finale with Milnthorpe Steel Band. Burgers, hot dogs, mince pies and mulled wine will be for sale at Queens Park.
